Wisdom Teeth Extraction in Albuquerque, NM

Early evaluation can help protect you from any future oral health problems or emergencies, and allow a simpler process for removal if indicated than should an emergency extraction be necessary.

What Are Wisdom Teeth?

  • Known as the third molars, or the last teeth to emerge
  • Located in the very back of the mouth
  • The lack of space in modern day's smaller jaws leads to wisdom teeth crowding other teeth

Are Wisdom Teeth Always Extracted?

  • Evaluating wisdom teeth and the amount of space in one's mouth is key to good dental care
  • If one's wisdom teeth are straight, not impacted and there's room in one's mouth, no need to remove them
  • Non-extracted, problematic wisdom teeth tend to cause dental issues that worsen over time with longer healing periods

How Are Wisdom Teeth Extracted?

  • Local anesthetic or both IV sedation and general anesthesia are offered at our office
  • A small incision is made in the gum tissue, removing any bone that is covering the tooth
  • Dental forceps are then used to gently pull the tooth out
